  • New Security Fence and Gate – Upgrades

Posted on July 25, 2016 by in News

Mark is always thinking about his guests’ security and he recently upgraded the entire fence and constructed a new higher and more secure fence and better more secure gates around the property. Now you can sleep even more safely in Cabinas Tropicales.

At the same time he also had the fence painted by an amazing local artist, Tony Reyman, and he also made him several new signs and new room signs..  so Cabinas Tropicales got more beautiful too.

  • Renovations of La Sirena Ranger Station completed

Posted on July 21, 2016 by in News

The National Park has upgraded their facilities and improved immensely the Ranger Station la Sirena. New toilets and showers have been added, and also a brand-new camping platform, which means there is more space for tourists now. The new washrooms are connected to the sleeping platform, which makes it less of an effort to go to the bathroom at night.

A recent guest review from Tripadvisor for La Sirena Ranger Station says it all (from July 2016):

“I am rating this 5 star on the look of the new amenities block! We still had to use the old facilities which were basic but useable! The new toilets and showers look lovely, and are connected to the sleeping platforms so no venturing into the night alone to nip to the loo! The sleeping platform is pretty cool, being surrounded by the sounds of the jungle! It is more comfortable than I was expecting and you will be provided with a mattress and mosquito net or tent – no pillow so if you need one better to take a small travel one! This is obviously not 5 star luxury but brilliant considering the location! The kitchen was closed while we were there so noodles it was but we heard that the food used to be good”

Despite the fact that there is more room now, we do still recommend to always pre-arrange your stay. We cannot guarantee that La Sirena will have space for you, especially during high season.

We have RENOVATED the bathrooms, threw on some new paint, purchased some new linnes, and added on extra beds in the Deluxe Suite.

A beautiful dining table was added to the rancho/kitchen area, with room for up to 10 people. Fans have been added everywhere over the last months.

  • New Rules Regarding Food & Trash for Corcovado National Park

Posted on October 24, 2013 by in News

Recently Corcovado and MINAET have made some changes to their rules regarding Park hikes.

Now visitors cannot cook their own hot food in the park, but they can bring in / carry their own cold food into the park to eat, and/ or purchasing meals at La Sirena Ranger Station. Meals at La Sirena range between $20 for a breakfast and $25 for lunch and dinner. The new rule is to not have people cooking in the park, most likely to not disturb wildlife and interfere too much with nature (because of smells, wastes etc.).

Meals have to be booked in advance at MINAET, usually together with your overnight reservation.

The other new rule is that every visitor in the park has to take out their own trash out of the park. Every item that is trash needs to be carried out by the guests and guides themselves.

Refer to our Corcovado Section to find out more.
